Per eFS policy, clients are required to have a customs harmonization description and harmonization code for each SKU in their inventory.
Recently, we have had an issue where international shipments will error out at the ship station due to the customs harmonization description being longer than 30 characters.
This is due to a new policy by the USPS, limiting the acceptance of descriptions longer than 30 characters.
Because of the large number of SKUs in our system with this issue, we will truncate any of these descriptions that contain 30+ characters.
If you wish to take action to go in and update your descriptions on your own, you may do so at any time. To ensure that the shipping process goes smoothly, however, we have taken this action effective immediately, to guarantee your shipments will leave the warehouse on time.
If you wish to log in and view or update your customs harmonization descriptions, please follow the steps below.
You can update your SKU entries under "Client Info" > "View Inventory". There is a link to the right of each SKU to "Edit".
If you have any questions about this announcement or if you need to amend your customs harmonization descriptions, please reach out to your Client Care Specialist via this Zendesk ticket system.
