USPS Parcel Post will no longer be Offered

Effective immediately, eFulfillment Service will no longer be offering Parcel Post delivery from the U.S. Postal Service.

EFS clients will instead have the option to ship packages via FedEx SmartPost, a cost-effective ground delivery method that is similar to, yet less expensive than, Parcel Post.

SmartPost averages 2-7 day transit time within the contiguous U.S. Also, with SmartPost, there are no residential delivery surcharges, no Saturday delivery surcharges, and no dimensional weight charges if your package measures less than 84 inches in length + girth (girth is the equivalent of 2x the width plus 2x the height of your package).

FedEx has raised their SmartPost rates for 2015. Currently, however, EFS is still offering discounted 2014 rates, which you can see here:

http://www.efulfillmentservice.com/shiprates/economypost/

When clicking the link above, you can see that SmartPost rates do not currently go above 9 lbs. We will soon be increasing the the allowable weight to 70 lbs. For now, any orders over 9 lbs. that are submitted as SmartPost will be automatically upgraded to our Ground program.

As a result of the FedEx 2015 rate increase, we will soon be forced to update our SmartPost rates, and we will notify clients at that time. Please note that SmartPost rates will continue to be less expensive than Parcel Post rates, even after the change.

To submit orders as SmartPost, please using the following ship code:

ECONOMY_POST

Effective immediately, all orders submitted as Parcel Post will automatically be changed to SmartPost.

Please contact your account manager with any questions. Thank you.

From my end there still is a selection for USPS Parcel Post. I made a test order for your review.

    EFS #: 6746753
    Reference/PO #: test
Requested Ship Via: USPS Parcel Post
    Email:
    Phone:
    Type: MANUAL ENTRY

Let me know what's happening. Maybe its coming from my admin.

Hey Stephen it seems that when I disabled it I didn't remove it from the Drop Down. It should be gone for the available options now.

    Hello Kevin,

You are correct there currently is no way to use Live Rates with Fedex Smartpost. We have had several clients ask about this and we are working with Fedex to create a way for our clients to use Live Rates with Smartpost. However, I currently don’t have any update other than we are working on it, and we will let everyone know when we have something more.

In the meantime our clients have used several different methods as a workaround. Some aren’t offering it until there is a way to use live rates. Others are using it as a ‘Free Shipping’ option and they are picking up the cost. Also you could use Parcel Post Rates or calculate an average and charge a Flat Rate.
